We take responsibility
In less than two hours, employees of Lidl and Kaufland Bulgaria collected more than one and a half tons of waste on the banks of the Danube on September 3. The amount corresponds to about 130 bags collected by the teams of the two divisions.
Nearly 130 employees from Kaufland and Lidl took part in the campaign. Joining forces, they managed to clean two different areas along the river - the Danube bank near the town of Marten and the beach of the village of Sandrovo. The aim of the action was for the teams of the two companies to contribute to the reduction of plastic waste in nature, but also to raise public awareness of this extremely important environmental problem.
The clean-up campaign took place as part of the Schwarz Group's long-term plastic strategy - REset Plastic. The employees of the two chains were joined by volunteers from the "Prista (Ruse)" tourism organization and divers from the "White Star" ("Byala zvezda") club. They cleaned the neighboring island of Aleko and dove deep to remove plastic waste from the river bottom. The initiative's recycling partner was ECOPACK Bulgaria: The company supported Kaufland and Lidl in removing the collected waste and took care of its further sorting and recycling.
