We take responsibility
In Romania, we implemented the group-wide River Cleanup Collective @Danube under the communication umbrella of Romania Limpede (Clear Romania). We organized the cleanup activities together with three NGOs with whom we have been working for a long time to protect the environment. Together with ASAP, Mai Mult Verde and WWF Romania, we carried out various clean-up actions along the Danube between September 1 and September 7, 2022.
For example, Mai Mult Verde, the association with which Lidl Romania implements the Cu Apele Curate (Clean Waters) program, organized a series of cleanup actions from the mouth of the Danube in the country (southwest) to the eastern side of the country (Galați). In addition to the cleanup actions, there were kayak trips on the Danube in Brăila and Orșova and a thematic film screening in Giurgiu to draw attention both to the problem and to the right solutions to keep the waters clean. In addition, ASAP organized post-cleanup workshops in Giurgiu, Călăraşi, Brăila and Galați. There, participants learned how to properly wash plastic previously collected by Mai Mult Verde to make new useful items for everyday life.
On the last day of the campaign, WWF Romania organized a cleanup marathon, with the participation of local authorities. The Zero Platic Patrol stopped at important points in the delta area where activities were organized for young people from the community.
